using two amps with a stock head unit

i may decide to use a 4 channel amp for speakers and a mono amp for the sub, all with my stock head unit. how would i got about doing this? i can use a 4 channel amp with speaker level inputs, but then how do i connect a seperate amp for a sub? i just decided that the 5 channel may not be enough power for me.
any help?

Many 4 channel amps also have a set of Preouts for just this situation so you can loop through the 4 channel to the sub amp.

Another Idea is to use what i am which is a 6 channel EQ that can seperate out 4 speaker inputs to 3 sets of preouts.

look at the EQS.

What amps did you want to use?

im thinking the jl 300/4 for the speakers and the alpine mpr-m200 for the sub. should i use plug the wires from the head into the sub amp and then link that with the 4 channel, or should i plug the wires from the head into the 4 channel and then link it with the sub amp?

I don't believe the MRPM200 has preouts on it but I have not been able to verify that.
If it does not then you can use a LOC for all the speaker wires but splice off the rear speaker wires before the lock to go into the Alpine or just use RCA Y adapters after the Lock. Another thing you can do is totaly aviod LOCs and run speaker wires to the back and go directly into the alpines speaker level inputs then splic off another set and solder RCas to them and go directly into the JL amp. I have checked with JL and it is very possible to take speaker level inputs, solder RCAs on them and go into the JL amps.
