Ugh, solder just keeps falling off when trying to connect wiring harness to TT

it just keeps falling, as if the wires resist the solder. i just said screw it and wrapped it all up in electrical tape and wrapped the wire around each other. the soldering is more work that necessary..any thoughts on how to do it?

first twist the wires together... separate the wire strands from each wire you are trying to splice and flare them out (like pulling a skirt outwards on all ends)... push the wires together and straighten out the strands again as you twist them together... heat the soldering iron REAL HOT... clean the tip by tinning it... heat the wires real hot and apply solder to it.. keep the tip clean as the solder gets soaked into the wire cores.. coat them until you see a thin silver layer coated around the splice... the splice should become hard and hard to pull apart... use heat shrink tubing to protect the splice

those ignition wires are THICK. in order to get a good, solid connection, you will need a VERY HOT tip. my 15w pencil tip from radio shack wouldn't cut it, so i used a 230w soldering gun. presto bamo, done in 5 minutes.

hmm, yeah i totally ****** up. chopped my black/white wire in half. on the verge of crying. i soldered it together again, but how long will that last? omg i want to ******* cry.

why are you going to cry? just solder the wire back together...its not that harsh of a problem. head down to radio shack and pick up a soldering gun and heat shrink

Not sure what else you can do .....

Your soldering problem is due to what the other's have already said --- either you're not getting the wires hot enough (most likely the case) or you're using solder without flux. If you're not sure, buy a little tin of flux (acid-free - make sure it's for electronics and not for plumbing) and apply that to the wires before soldering. If it still doesn't "soak in", then it's because the wires aren't hot enough.

Good luck ... wires are cheap so don't worry if you screw up. Just buy more wire.

yeah, car wont start anymore. locks working, windows arent. connected everything back to normal, still wont work. calling mazda later, gonna get towed and taken to dealership. im a ******* failure.

Don't sweat it Johnny. The best way to learn is to try something that you're not sure how to do. Look on the bright side -- you probably just blew a fuse and it'll cost you a couple bucks to get it fixed. No biggee and you're now smarter than you were when you started.

I'm a little scared to stat modding too because I'm an eegit and I know it!:)

Give it another try once you get it fixed - this time maybe disconnect the battery BEFORE you start working on things and then reconnect it just before you get everything tucked away nice and neat. You'll get it eventually.

girth has it right, Jon. Can't tell you how many hundreds it cost me when I was a computer noob to learn you can't download and install every damn program you run across on the Internet. But now I build all of them for myself and my family. Screwing up is the best, although sometimes an expensive, teacher. :)

well take it apart and check the connections.. the wires you screwed with are the ones that will be causing the problem
FIX IT

dude that was a lesson in soldering, someone could have printed that s*** and sold it on t.v. you really are TheMAN
