*** There Is No Fuel Cut***

Well as the title reads we have learned that there isnt a programmed fuel cut in the MSP. The problem arises when the MAF meter is "maxed" out. It is a 0-5 volt meter. Some will experience a cut in fuel because the meter has read enough airflow to exceed the 5.0 volt limit. ALL THE PROTEGES have this . Not just the MSP.
Now depending on many factors the "fuel cut" will happen at different psi ranges for everyone. The denser the aircharge thru the meter (and what the temp sensor reads ) the quicker it will bottom out the meter. Also there have been cases with short ram intakes causing problems, by "washing" the filter with the radiator fan. It will cause an increase in airflow turbulence in the meter and throw off the readings. Either causing harm or good depending on the rpm and ambient temp. Also many meters have different starting ranges that are within factory spec. Some meters will run at idle 1.6 volts while some others run 2.2 volts. That .6 volt can mean the difference between running 8psi and running 10psi of boost.
Well just wanted to shed some light on a subject that has been overblown. There is no fuel or boost cut. It is just that the meter has reached its efficiency limit and the ecu doesnt want more that that much airflow thru the system. Your stock turbo was sized using all the stock sensor outputs. Since it was used in N/A vehicles then it was a safety devise because it would only compensate for about 20% more airflow. This is all that the engineers intended. I wish mazda wasn't in such a rush to bring this vehicle out and put some more thought into it. Well at least they gave you guys a great car to base some mods in with the LSD and larger axles. All you need is a larger exhaust & downpipe, FMIC and a piggyback (hint hint:D ) and you could get some great numbers from that little turbo.

Umm, I'll call you :). That is the same as a boost/cut- it is based on airflow like I have said the whole time :)..
Joe

THANK GOD!!! I've been trying to tell some of the people on this board that there is no "fuel cut" with these cars. Maybe now they'll listen? We'll see. Now if people will just listen and realize there is also no top speed governor on any of the Proteges with the exception of the MSP , this board will be a more intelligent place.

I can back Perf up on this.

Im boosting 10 PSI.....no issues, not cutouts, nothing. All with stock box.

I install the Injen. Boost 10 PSI, and POW, cutout, all based on the "density" of the air moving throughthe MAF. Which sends the signal to the ECU via "Electronic coltage"

simple to the point. :D

Sooo....should I put my stock airbox back on?? I made my own CAI, but ifor now, I'm on stock boost. I still have a slight stumble every once in a while, but much less often than with the K&N filter though.

There is no poon.

Do I sense a lovers quarrel betwix Perfy and Joey?
Hmmm now back to "As the Fuel cut turns or doesn't. "

Yash, your funny dood. (lol) Dear lord, you gotta write comedy, or be a stand up dood. :D

I had lunch with the Republican senator from New Mexico last week and these two faa-ine beotchs that were with him and they nearly needed some adult diapers they were laughing so hard.
I hear that Stand up comment about 3 times a day usually it's in the context of my Boss telling me to get to work, "Get back to work you lazy heterosexual dick swinger!" She is this really large Wynona Judd on crack looking lesbian. You know the kind with the Rosie Olickedacarpet Flock of Seagulls haircut and enough body hair to make Coco the talking gorilla look clean shaven.
Ya know lesbians seem to have the world's worst case of penis envy. It like they go from wanting dick in them to wanting dick on them. Its just two easy steps from Man hate to strapon. In fact that sounds like some lesbian self help book. To lesbians a dick is like the devil in tube form the testicles are like that two headed dog in Greek mythology that guarded the gates to Hades or was that three headed?
Maybe I could be the first white devil to do Showtime at the Apollo.

Joe i know its what you said the whole time .
I was specifically commenting on the fact that Callaway did not program the unit with boost or fuel cut.

No yash i just didnt word it properly.
Joe and i have been working on clearing up this theory. the piggy will be installed in his car on thursday.
we are on the same page when we say it is based on airflow thru the meter.

Okay so this is on topic for this post, but I wanted to respond to this!
I am a woman....no read futher I am not going to insult you one bit!.....I totally agree about the man-hating penis envy theory. In fact about 6 years ago I wrote an essay on such! My prof. was shocked. But he really liked it a lot because it was based necessarily on the negative.
No to explain, I have no beef with same sex partnerships at all. My only issue is that why does it take some people losing touch with their gender to be homosexual? It is ridiculous!
Anyways.....now back to your regular programming!

perfworks Keep us posted , my tuner wants to tune my n/a , auto p5 , let the little Piggy out of the cage!!!!!!!! (rockon)

Please keep this thread especially on topic. Thanx.

Thin air high boost....
Now Nixy you are so ADMINlectable.

Are spilt topic posts ok.
You're Modlyness?
Or will Nixyracer come crushing down upon us like some 800lb Nix Diety, like a sumo wrestler after the last cheesy poof?

LOL
the piggy will be out soon. sorry for the delay but it needs to be perfect.
Any way the unit will come preprogrammed from us so no other tuning will be needed. Every unit will be programmed to the specs on your particular set up

I just installed Joe's MBC yesterday, and I'm at around 9psi right now, spiking at a bit over 10. I hadn't hit any fuel cut until tonight when the temps were much cooler (mid 50's). When I spiked to 10+ it hit the fuel cut..

EDIT: Forgot to mention this is w/ my stock air box back on..
