Synthetic Oil Problems

Can anyone think of any problems in changing the MSP over to Mobil 1? I know a few of you guys have used it and I too have used it on N/A cars before my MSP. Can anyone think of any long or short term problems with using this on our cars with the oil cooled turbo and all?

If you can find it, I'd actually recommend Royal Purple synthetic. It's the only synthetic I've tried (previous used Redline & Mobil1) where not only myself but my girlfriend noticed a performance increase.

Synthetic oil is actually *better* on our cars because of the turbo than regular oil.

Just run a few thousand miles on regular dino oil before changing over to Mobil 1 to let your parts seat and wear in. I just changed over at 6000 miles. Synthetic oil is much better for the turbo because of the oil's higher temperature resistance to coking in the turbo bearings and better flow characteristics at low temps.

Thank you guys, in about 700miles ill be changing over to mobil 1, it'll be my 6000 mile mark and everybody but me uses mobil 1 in my family, figured i'd just jump on the bandwagon!

MOBIL 1

MOBIL 1 ...all the way, baby!! (thumb)

Highly recommended for Turbo engines like ours!

At 2,000 miles, I switched to MOBIL 1. Now; every 5,000 miles.

I run Mobile one full synthetic 15-50W on my turbo mp3.

The follow oils wouldn't be too bad:

Mobil 1: 5w40 or 5w50
Castrol Syntec: 5w40 or 5w50

The best to use would be Motul 300V in 5w40 or 5w50.

No you're not retarded! It is water and oil cooled!
Hope this makes you feel better!:D

(lol)

What kind of climate do you have where you live where you'd use 15w50? I'm in memphis tn and its hot and humid as hell out here. Would mobil 1 5w30 or 10w30 or 5w50 be better? I drive it hard and its hot as hell here.

if can, check out torco racing oils SR5 or SR1(100% synthic):
www.torcousa.com
their oil is approved for turbo applactions.
they even have a 5w-40 for added protection at higher engine temps.

I run 15-50W at the recommendation of the maker of my turbo kit and turbo God Corky Bell.
Not to mention i have mentioned using it to just about every serious turbo tuner on here and noone has advised me to use anything else.

Really, 15W50? I have been using 10W30, since thats whats in the owners manual, but maybe i'll switch up at my next oil change ...

The Royal Purple web site FAQ recommends that you wait until the manufacturer's first recommended oil change, or at least 2000 miles, before using their oil.
