STOCK 1.6! any ideas on what to do to her performance wise?

(idhitit) I have a 2000 mazda protege 1.6 and I need ideas about engine mods to gain more power. Please give examples of affordable turbo kits, chips, superchargers. Thanks!

Just piece together a kit but beware that nothing turbo related that is any good will be cheap. Except for the front mount and custom piping. Spend the money in a good turbo and supporting mods.

If you're looking for power, you're best off doing a motor swap. The best fun that can be had for Protege on a budget is in suspension upgrades. Coming from a 1.6 Protege owner with intake and exhaust, and suspension mods, the car is far more fun around the corners than in a line. If I had the money, I would swap in the 2.0L, forge the internals, and turbo it.

i found some turbos on ebay under a grand but they're universal mazda kits and they recommend professional installation. any ideas on that?
