Spool's starter kit questions

I'd like to hear any comments if you have this kit. Price is right so I am considering entering the boost world with this, and I just want moderate boost pressure. Are you happy with the performance? Any install headaches? Any recommended additional parts to add to the starter kit (boost or egt guage)? Also, since I am in California, anyone know if this would cause any smog test problems?
 
I have nothing but good things to say about Terry's kit. As a matter of fact, mine is for sell if you are interested. You will get the stage 3 kit for $1000 off if you buy mine. Let me know if you are interested.
 
stage 3 is the intercooler upgrade...and it costs 900 dollars as it is...so you will pay me 100 dollars, to take your intercooler?
 
i'm sure big_ben means that you will get the whole turbo kit plus the intercooler upgrade for $1000 less than it would cost to buy it new from terry. :rolleyes:
 
Exactly. I'm not trying to take away Terry's business, I'm just trying to sell my kit. It's a hell of a deal, even Terry will agree.
 
I lay it out for all of you. I bought one of the first three kits Terry made for the MP3. There were some fitment issues at first, and he sent me a new one. Then about two weeks after I had it installed, I ran over a retread from a semi tire and this knocked my oil return line off my oil pan. I didn't know it was off until my oil lamp came on and by then it was too late. My engine was shot, and so was the turbo. Since I was so patient with Terry, he felt that he should help me out. Since he had a warranty on the turbo, he returned it and got a refund. He also built me a completely new manifold. So the turbo and the manifold are brand spanking new. I bought the intercooler on my own. I built all the charge piping. Some kits such as the FM have some 2.5" and some 2" piping. I was able to make all of mine 2.5". This is an advantage over others. I believe Mazdaformance is also building theirs modeled after mine. So this is basically a Spool stage 2 kit, with the stage 3 intercooler upgrade and all charge piping. The only thing I don't have is the downpipe and the Tial wastegate. I was using a Garrett T3, but I decided to go with the Mitsubishi 16G the second time. I have not re-installed anything because I haven't gotten my motor rebuilt yet. So the kit is basically brand new. Yeah thats a hell of a deal, somebody better jump on that before its gone.....its basically a new kit with a BIG discount
 
So could anybody answer the question, Will it pass a smog test?
The kits are not CARB legal but should easily pass any smog and visual under car inspection. We have kits that have passed emmisions in pensylvania
