Would take the top 3 in a heartbeat but you couldn't force me to buy one of the bottom 3. I just don't see Mazda competing anywhere in this arena. I honestly never have seen them compete in this arena. The 323 was a nice car but it was not in the same class as these even back in the day.

yea the 323 was a rally HB, built to withstand a lot of beating. it did it quite well too! mazda just doesn't have the resources to engineer a car in the above class...

how did this get above everything....

the only way mazda is gonna have a car to compete with those is gonna be if they build an internally stronger FD series engine w/ a turbo(or maybe just a KLZE, yum!). that on an AWD platform would compete well with the sti and evo.

i don't see this happening anytime soon. i think the last awd platfro mazda brough to the usa was an mpv. before that was the 323s...

I love every one of those cars except the Foci and GTI. Just horrible looking designs if you ask me. But then again no one did so It really doesn't matter what I say. Only thing is I'm kinda partial to 4 doors now that I have one. As long as they're done right. And those ones are definately done right.

you are ******* nuts if you don't think the focus RS is a nice car. recaro, brembo, OZ, and a turbo to boot. it takes the cake over everything but the EVO and STi. my opinion of course. i would take all except the tiburon.

Top three all day

Saw everything, but the STi in Detroit. The R32 is awesome. The lady said that they're making 5000 for the U.S. and they're trying to push the price below $30,000. The seats are Konig and the steering wheel is great. The wheel is so thick that I can hardly fit my hand around the whole thing. Great looking car. It's going to be offered in Red, Blue, Silver, and Black.

R32 around 30k AWD 240+ hp
WRX STi anywhere from 34-38k AWD 300 hp 300 ft/lbs
Lancer Evo ### around 29-30k AWD 276 or so hp

I'd take the R32 for my dollar (USD that is..) even though the evo would be faster, I just don't like the look; not to mention I think the VW is a great and easy car to mod (buddy's got one)
I think the 6 is too big to rationally compete with these cars

C&D tested the R32 Vw and posted good #'s: i think it was in the January 2003 Magazine.
