so I raced tonight...

Don't drop the clutch superspud! You've gotta slip it at launch. It kinda kills the clutch so you don't want to be driving like that all the time. But when you are racing, I've found that revving it to around 3.5-4 and slipping the clutch produces the best results.

nice.. so I should rev to about 3500, then slip it out.

B16a's came in the 93-95 Del Sols. Just to let you guys know. Very stout motor...Later,

hmmm... maybe the later model sol's got the d-series? i think they made them up to 97 or 98.

i wasn't aware that the b16a was introduced stateside prior to the 99-00 Si's.

That's what I do, and it seems to work pretty well. Though, someone else may have their 2 cents to add. At the very least it's WAY better than dropping the clutch.

I had to figure that out too. I used to have an Acura Integra, and all you had to do to get a killer launch was rev to 5 and drop the clutch. But that doesn't work very well with our car.

Good luck!

Here's my 2 cents.

Before you go racing next time... take your front tire pressure down to about 18 psi. This will help with the traction issue. If you have really sticky tires, you may even be able to completely dump the clutch if your psi is low enough. Experiment. And be safe.

the 93-97 del sol vtec. it comes with a b16a3 it puts out 160 hp and 117ft lb
torque.

I raced a '00 Civic Si on the highway. 3rd gear roll. Pulled him by 1 car by the end of 4th gear. We both just had a filter.

idk much about hondas, but i raced a del sol with SOHC vtec, and i beat it, the vid is in my sig.

Yeah there are some sol vtec's that are the SOHC engine, it's the 'd' series engine. Same engine found in the civic ex I believe.

There isn't any reason why a MSP shouldn't easily take a civic si, or a sol si, they weigh less but we have about 10 more horsepower and about 40ft-lbs or torque. I used to kill civic's in my integra and my MSP is a lot faster than that was.

There were actually three engines offered for the del sol. the "s" model came with a 108hp single cam 1.6liter. the "si" came with the 125hp single cam 1.6liter. and the "si vtec" was the one that came with the B16A with 160hp. :) I miss my del sol too.
