so I raced tonight...

ok,, so we had some nice street racing tonight... I raced 3 cars..

first race,, my friend in his protege LX... I started from a lauch,, but I let him go from a 15,,, so he got going 15mph,, and when he got to me,, I launched.. I caught and passed him in 2nd gear... as expected...


second race. new hyundai tibby... the v6.... we raced from a launch.. he won.. thats all I can say.. we raced to about half way through 3rd gear, he beat me by about a car and a half

third race, my friends 93 N/A MR2... damn good race.. he had me at the launch.. we shifted in second,, I was at his back bumper, not catching him.. shifted to third,, I caught him and passed him,, shifted to 4th,, passed and breaked.. I HAVE TOP END AFTER ALL!!! ha ha ha


but yeah.. I am still a little rusty on my racing/shifting.. I launched from 3.5,, and 4k.. Im not sure as to how to launch really, I just rev,, they say go, and I dump it and go.. is this right or wrong? oh well, I feel as though my shifts are getting better though..


well, just thought I'd share how my night went.. so go ahead and flame away.. "street racing is bad.." .. blahhhhhhhh... as though none of yall do it...

Do you have an MP3 or an MSP. Cuz if you had an MP3 and beat the N/A MR2, there must have been something wrong with either the driver or the car. I used to have a 93 MR2 n/a (back in high school in 94) and I used to smoke GS-R's and Prelude V-TECH's all day. I would always get them off the jump but they would always catch up in the top, but by that time it would be too late for them. Good kill though

Not sure how you lost to a tiburon, unless he wasn't stock and had some decent mods, you shoulda had him. I guess if your still getting the hang of the shifter and the car I suppose it's possible.

well, I believe it had its cat(s) removed.. but thats about it.. I didnt launch very well...I mean,, he got the 1.5 lengths at launch.. I was sticking with him.. we didnt race very long. we stopped like,, not even half way into 3rd.. not sure why.. I woudl have raced him again, but the cops came

and yes, I am still getting the hang of "race" shifting/launching... any tips?? specificlly on the launch?? do I slip it? drop it?? from what rpm??

i had a race tonight too. I went up against a del sol with vtec(not sure if they all have it or not) and exhaust, not sure if he had anything else. Those things are pretty damn quick. I had him off the start by a little then he caught up and passed and I stayed around his bumper the rest of the way up to about 150km/h. good race though. Now I really want a turbo back exhaust, and mbc, and I'll be happy

yeah, del sols have a b16a.. (dohc 1.6 vtec 160hp). they are really light too.... nice little cars.. I wouldnt feel bad losing to one..

wrong, the Si Del Sol's only have a d16zc(z6) its a 125hp vtec motor. i was hanging with my friend's Si Hatch(same motor, a lil lighter car) in my stock protege DX.

eric, i want another race still... i had to get off the gas to slow back down to 15mph and when i floored it next to you, my ole TQ convertor decided to wait the usual 2 seconds to respond. i have weight on my side!

all he had was removed cats... he dyno'd in at 143whp

superspud's msp has the hesitation problem and he's just getting used to the tranny, so that's def what hurt his chances. spud's car will prob dyno in at around 150whp, but with a huge power loss spike just as his turbo is hitting full boost. at 9psi the tibby will be seeing the mazdaspeed badge!

I had the fortune of getting a ride in a EVO tonight before work. Man those things handle, and are fast. Monday I got a ride in a 430+ WHP 3rd Gen RX-7. OM Goodness! I watch this thing eat a Z06 like nothing.

Actually your wrong. They do make a del sol version that comes with a b16a, 160hp, it's almost the same engine that comes in the newer civic SI's and it's one of the most highly wanted honda's. It rapes the newer civic SI's simply because of the fact that it's so light. Hop onto www.superhonda.com and ask the guys over there about it, the'll tell that there is a version of Sol with a b16a in it.

Every time I drop in a launch I get major wheel spin and some hop, and I always lose.

Now I slip the clutch in first and dump in second. Most of the time I get a clean launch with no wheel spin, and if I do it right the revs are high enough to make the tires chirp when dropping into second. At this point the car takes off and against most opponents can keep the lead.

Only a few times have I lost this way, and it was against guys I underestimated. Like what I thought was a stock GTI. I got burned in 3rd gear and knew the race was over. Turns out his only mods were a new exaughst and an APR(?) chip giving him about 225 lbs of torque at the wheels. To bad our cars aren't so easy to tune.
