i visited my Girlfriend at her work the other day and was helping her change a sign outside. so she asked the question.....

"So, if you had to choose between me and your car what would you take!"

OH THE HUMANITY!!!!

i simply said thats not fair you cant ask me i have no comment! then she proceeded to say oh thanks alot.

and now, she just came over as i am writting this and is sitting right next to me............ caught, red handed........

Always turn that around on them.

For example in your case a good response would have been:
If you are the kind of person that would force me to give up something I love then I'll take the car. It does care that I love you!

well, if it were my car, yeah f*** that POS, but she better be one hell of a woman

if it were something decient, or somthing that I had put alot of time and effort into and slaved over to gain every ounce of speed it had to give
then, no, no woman, no matter how beautiful, no matter how perfect she may be, would EVER, come between me and my car

Women should know by now, a car, is much more than "just a car" to a guy
it is everything, especialy with car nuts like ourselfs,
I would be looking at a twin turbo setup on a Supra or 3000GT much before i look at the bikini girl standing next to it, 1 hour on the car, 30 minutes at the woman
besides, cars dont get pissy as much, cars dont yell back, cars are alot easyer to get into, cars dont complain when you belch fart or scratch your nuts, cars dont complain if you spend more time with your girlfriend (probably because your always with the car)

I think it has something to do with attention (or lack of).

my black lab. She hated my dog and the outdoors which are

True, there aren't a lot of female car enthusiasts, but you should be able to at least find a woman who will respect/love you enought to take an active interest in what you like or at least let you do your thing w/o giving you s***. OF COURSE, this does mean you would need to reciprocate the sentiment in order for the relationship to be balanced and fair.

Me, I don;t have to worry about that, cuz I made Greg into the perfect mate--I made him a car guy! lol before he knew me, he didn't know jack about cars. I am proud...kinda like the way Yoda felt for Luke...
