Well today I payed for a 2001 Protege Shop Manual ($125 USD/$149 with tax) from the dealership, and I believe that some friends and I may do it. From what I hear, Corky provides detailed instructions. First I am gonna get my pistons changed to the stock 9.1:1 compression.

Any word on when you're supposed to get your BEGI kit? I should be getting mine in a week or so. But we aren't putting it on Till October 1st.
Any chance I could get you to photocopy the ENTIRE shop manual? hehe![]()

I dropped my car at the shop this morning, and they have found out that I had a desentergrated rod bearing. That's where the engine clatter was comming from. They will be replacing those, along with the pistons I ordered. I think it was definitely worth it to get this stuff looked into before the turbo kit is put on. Hopefully I will be rollin (pre-turbo) on Wednesday.
Hey, look at it this way, you're just increasing the bore of the motor, maybe you'll have an advantage over the rest of the BEGI folks!LinuxRacr said:Just got a call from the shop. They discovered that a couple of my cylinder walls have been gouged a little. They will have to be bored out, and I would need oversized pistons. (argh)
Why the hell is this happening to me!
