where can i find a remote starter for my 91 protege? it's an auto trans to if that makes any difference

You can get a remote start system from Bestbuy. I have a Viper Remote Start System, I am going to have put back on to my 00' Protege ES once I figure out the over heating issue.
The nice part about Bestbuy & The Viper Systems, they are trained and certified to install. They also support the system for the life of the system. You can have it installed on your 91 Protege, then removed and installed on a different car should you experience issues down the road with your protege.
If you are just looking for something cheap, you can do a viper One-way system. Personally, I like the 2way system, meaning once I send the start command, it will page back to my remote letting me know the car has started.
There are also ones you can get with alarm systems, or have the ability to start your car from your smart phone (for a monthly fee).
