Radio trim removal?

Anyone have a pic of what the radio slot looks like with the trim piece removed? Curious as I may try to rig up a cell phone mount to the left of the radio (2016 gt). For now I just got a windshield mount.

It might be a challenge to put something in there, even the wedge style ones.

If you look at my second photo, next to the clock I have a black circular dash plate (came from a Garmin GPS). I use a suction cup cell phone holder there.
Unfortunately as my phone has gotten bigger, it's gotten heavier and with mounts on that, it started to pull on the clock piece away (only double sided tape is in there that keeps it flush to the dash).

Thank you! So it looks like there's some depth to the left edge there. I have a "Topeak Ridercase" on my phone, so it has a kickstand and sliding mount in the back - can be used for bicycles but I also use it for my motorcycle so I have GPS. I wanted to see if I can wedge a plate or something in there that would accomodate the sliding mount for the case.

So the car mount actually works pretty good...may just rock that for now and see if I like it long term.

The one I'm using is the suction cup model pictured above...only I have it on the far left edge of the windshield. I'm left handed and can only hear on the left side so I seem to be left-everything. Always a risk of my phone flying out the window but the way this is I dont think it would happen (as the mount would definitely go with it).

I already had the case on my phone since I used the mountain bike mount on my motorcycle (rode to OBX this year and used it for GPS and Waze via a bluetooth headset in my helmet).

Only thing I have to figure out is whether to get a longer phone cable to connect to USB in the console, or just have a seperate dedicated charger, which is what I had in my previous car. I simply wired up a pigtail-type socket under the driver side, plugged in a car charger (iphone), then tucked the coiled cable into the edge of the dash near the door opening up to that corner and hooked the connector on the mount when it wasn't in use. It looked factory. Even leaving the car for several days the battery never discharged enough to not start the car, and if I knew I was leaving it for longer than a week I'd just reach under and unplug it.
