Hey guys, I just got my SSAFC in from protege garage and can't wait to instal it; looks fairly simple. Now I know everyone says it comes preloaded with super map, but just reading threw the instructions it says, it comes with 2 maps preloaded and you have to pick one depeding on which controller you have. Now my question is can I just plug and play without hooking my computer up at first IF NEED BE? I know the map wont be perfect for my car, and I plan on tuning it with my wideband, but if I do not have time that day to hook it to my computer and all of that, will just hooking up the controller and starting the car be fine to get me by? And I will be running supermap without having to go into the software and selecting it? (car is tock turbo, stock boost, FMIC, piping, exhaust, intake)

Thanks guys!

When you wire the SSAFC your ECM will stay the same untill you hook your computer up and flash the ECM with what ever map you want to run, so you will have no change until you hook your computer up and flash ECM with the fuel map

ummmm...what? You are not flashing anything with the SSAFC. It will work right out of the box. I would verify that it has the supermap loaded just for the hell of it. You will have to set up the r4 software for it to work right once you install it. Once the settings are correct, it will work as intended.

Yeah, that's exactly right, but completely not... As Spiced said, you aren't flashing anything at all... And I also second what he said, I was told that the superstock map was loaded on mine, ran it for a week, didn't seem right and AFRs weren't where I expected them to be and sure enough, it wasn't the superstock map that was loaded.

Ok then I'm totally confused....maybe this will help with problems i'm having....so just wiring it up it's going to change mapping in your ECM? so why would you have to load a map into the ECM with your computer?

The SSAFC doesn't do anything to your ECM. It intercepts and modifies signals before they reach the ECM, but whenever you "flash" or load a map, you are only modifying the SSAFC.

maybe your choice of words is what is confusing. When you are referring to the ECM, are you talking about the ECU or the AFC? Either way, you aren't changing anything within the stock ECU. When you buy the AFC, it should come preloaded with the supermap. If not, just go to the afc thread on here and get the map, extract the file and load the file onto the afc.
