i just ordered a vivid yellow protege 5, now i have a whole system from my old car, and i know how to install systems and everything. i was just asking 2 questions to make things easier for me when my car comes in. im going to be replacing the stereo most likely the first weekend i have the car, with the one i have. now i need to know where i can get a dash fill kit with a tray or whatever to fill in under where i put my face. and iwas wondering if they make the wiring harness that direcetly plug into the factory ones from ur face, i have an alpine head unit, and i will splice the wires together if i have to, so if they dont make the adapter, does anyone have the pinout of the wires so that the splicing will be easy. and is there anything else i should know about before i get to work that might be hidden

I just bought my laser blue p5 and I'm replacing the stereo. For the adapter check with your local mazda dealer, and ask them for the harness adapter for the 2002 MP3 that came with the kenwood Z828( I'm not certain if they did it). For the fit kit, again the easiest is at mazda, order the 2002 protege kit( it includes a box or a face plate, a bar that goes accross and devides the compartiment in two equal halfs, your also going to need the screws and the metal thingny that goes behind.

If there is a harness adapter made to fit mazda to kenwood please tell me, because here in canada, we don't have the Mp3 listing's.

Thanks!!!

Huh??!?! Mazda does not have the adapter for the stereo. That's a Kenwood produced item (I spoke with Mazda about this last year), and not available for sale. You need the wiring harness that is made by Scosche or Metra. They were hard to find at first, but now are widely available.

And what 'kit" from Mazda with "a box or faceplate, a bar that goes across and devides the compartiment in two equal halfs" and "screws or metal thingy that goes behind"? What are you talking about? There is no such "kit", and if there is, please post some pictures. I'm convinced this kit doesn't exist, and you really shouldn't advise someone to go to the dealer and request parts that aren't even made - makes you both look like fools. Please don't post nonsense - if you don't know what you're talking about, at least state that you are guessing.
