so this is my first car with a tachometer, anyway when i decide to gun it from a stop i see it goes to the redline. its the sport-auto wahteveryouwanttocall it

what i'm wondering is
1. is this ok?
2. should i be manipulating my gas pedal to get it to advance up to the next gear

i don't regularly drive like this, sometimes you just have to burn a ricer civic

once and a while no problems....the car knows when best to change gears...it would just hang a little on redline before changing as the torque converter uses it's last few hundred rpm, then it'll change gears
