i want to pull the stock 6 disc in my P5....but cant figure it out. I know i need a tool or something from Mazda...but i know of people using other things like coat hangers. There is a few holes after i get the little trim pieces out of the sides, but i dont know which ones do what. if anyone can help it would be great. I want to wire a system i have in my new car but dont want to pay for a bad install job some sketchy car audio place will do. Thanks.

Some cd players have small holes around the edge that if you put small thin nails into it will unlock the unit so you can slid it out....dont know if this is how your p5 works since i dont have one. but hey...its an idea

Check out Nuke's thread listed below:

Home made radio removal tools

Or, you can pick up Ford radio removal tools at an auto parts store. You would need more than one set (there are three holes on each side of the unit that you need to use the tools in. The tools will be pushed to the outside of the car once they are inserted (press on them so that the part of the tool that is in the hole presses inward on the deck). This releases the clips.

Even when you get the clips undone, the deck is still wedged in pretty good, and will take some patient force to remove. Also, if you do not remove the silver trim around the radio, tape it up right around the radio opening or the clips from the radio will scratch the trim.

Good luck.
Dale.

guess the one i was talkin bout was different then I remember it was a stock radio in a volkswagon.?? oh well
