Problems with my P5

My P5 is a great car, but I'm having problems with the following things:

1)The paint on the car chips easily. I guess it's because the paint is too thin. A soft hit on the car causes a nasty chip, I only have two but thats way more than enough.

2)There is a stain on the back of my car by the rear license plate. I try washing it off but it won;t come off. That;s pissing me off!!!!

3)The belts on the engine make a loud noice. I don't know if that's normal but if it is: what happened Mazda? Being a four cylinder it almost makes more noice than my brother's Mustang GT(note the exageration, but it does sound loud)

I guess that's all. The P5 is near perfect though a little more power would be an huge plus. But that's not my problem

If anyone can comment something about my three problems which could help me in any way I would really appreciate it.

1) Consider 3M StoneGuard or similar paint protection film

2) Have you tried a paint polish or scratch remover?

3) Buy some belt dressing at a parts store and give the belts a shot. If that doesn't help, take it to the dealer and make sure they are tightened correctly

StoneGuard (sold under a bunch of different names) is a very thin, clean plastic film you apply over the paint. Correctly applied, it is almost invisible. It protects against rocks, sand, gravel, etc.

They make kits that are cut specifically for each car. Check out http://www.stoneguard.com.

The kit has a preettty steep price there. It sounds like its worth it but I guess I'll have it better if I just fill the chips.

Do you have to order it online or do stores sell them? I'm pretty sure that if they sell them in your area, they should have them in mine.

Yeah, it is expensive. You won't find it in stores, but I'm sure you could find an installer in your area. That will make sure it is installed correctly (or should) but make it more expensive.

You can also get thicker StoneGuard for your headlights/foglights. If you are getting a lot of paint chips, that might be a good idea since it sounds like you might have a lot of stones/gravel/etc.

Hey, where is central MA are you?? I live/work in central MA too. I have a mica blue 2003 with polished rims. Are you the guy with the silver 2002 that honked at me last week?

btw - I have 3m static film headlight guards and fog lights guards that I sell. I can email you a picture of my product on my car. The kit for both headlights and fog lights is $25.00 delivered to your door anywhere in the US. Let me know if anyone is interested and I will send them pictures. They have saved my headlights this winter.

the stain on your bumper could be road tar or tree sap...they sell wipes that remove that s*** real quick...just used some today actually...pep boys will have it....good luck

lxpony - I live in Grafton. I also have a mica 2002.5 P5, but not with polished rims. In fact right now I have black steel wheels on with snow tires. I've seen a couple other mica P5s around the area, perhaps one was you!

I have 40mil 3M StoneGuard on my lights and am REALLY glad I have them, with the amount of salt and gravel on the road this winter. Very cheap insurance.
