P5 ECU + FM "Device" and still ping...

Well since it's greddy it's Celsius-but I know the conversion (actually I printed it out and studied it) hehe.

I'm not sure, I'll probably mount it on the nearest cylinder to the drivers side and I'll mount it nearest the turbo end.

What do you think?

From my experience the leanest cylinder is the last runner closer to the passenger side. I have the same greddy gauge in C....excellent guage by the way.

If you mount your probe there I can give you some numbers.
Under WOT you should be around 720-750c in 3rd and 4th gear
If you go over this then you are running a little on the lean side. Anything over 800c which is 1515f is pushing it

Also I can provide you the numbers for cruise, partial ect.
Let me know

Rad, you are a heaven sent!
Any tips on how to tap the manifold? The guage didn't come with the tap. What do I need to go buy?

A tapping sleeve should have been included with the gauge. This is like a sleeve that fits over the probe. Then just drill a hole in the runner and thread the sleeve in the runner and screw the probe into the sleeve.

Nope no sleeve was included, and I even contacted the re-seller I went through (nipponpower.com) and they told me that it isn't supposed to be included. I guess I'm supposed to buy one from an auto shop?

Just for s**** and giggles why not open the waste gate all the way so you never boost and see if you still hear the sound. From everything I have gathered with decent fuel, octane boost and less timing knock should be impossible at 6 PSI.

Not a bad idea 1st.. I may try that...

But I may have found what was making the noise. This thought came to me in a dream believe it or not...

Ok, well first off my FP guage is still hooked up until I get all this ping stuff figured out, and keep in mind that the guage itself is rattly to begin with. It' smissing some screws and sounds like a rattle snake if it moves.

Now is it possible that under High boost and high Rev that the needle on it may freak out a bit and cause it to rattle? because I have a feeling that might be it. Like I said, the sound is more of a rattle/crackle and not a knock or ping.

Well the trim panel around the radio in the MP3 rattles like hell anyways

That's a hell of a good idea. You should start eliminating factors, narrowing possibilities...

This is what I was talking about! My gauge does this. I though it could have been ping, and then I figured this out.

No doubt... My FP gauge is so ghetto-when we first had it on it leaked feul like a muther. It rattles so bad. I'm guessing that once I get the feul line re-run and rid of the FP gauge- my noise will go with it. -hopes-
