2008 Mazda5 Sport
I just wanted to stop in and say hello to everyone and give the story behind my Mazda5. She's a 2008 (Base) Sport. A Victim of Hurricane Gustav in 2008 in Southeast Louisiana. I picked her up at auction with the initial plan to use for sheet metal only. Once I got a little deeper into the project, I realized this car wasn't too bad, or at least not subjected to the usual Brackish flood waters we see here. So I took a chance, I found another one wrecked in the front that was an 08 sport. It was the interior donor as well as some other parts, Taillights, side skirts, etc. So here she is, all cleaned up ready for the wife to drive when we turn in our leased Honda Odyssey in March. 9,700 Miles on the clock and total investment without my labor of course is $3000. Shes got a salvage title, but it you don't tell, I won't (wiggle)

Here is a pic of the "in progress" I really learned alot about these cars getting a chance to work on one.

My next updrade is to add the rear DVD system for the kids. I found an OEM one on Ebay today for $299.00. Now I just need the install kit and I'm good to go.

Deeeeeamn that looks like a tough project. Well done though, and welcome! What a deal on an '08 5! $3000!

Welcome aboard. Another Odyssey defector. :-)
Haha, I love hearing about this too. Odyssey's are $#!% expensive here in Canada and I love when Odyssey drivers ask me about my car. Or stare at it. I feel like saying...doesn't it suck this car cost less than half of yours, looks way cooler, and gets better mileage?

hmmm odyssey does have a motorized sliding door. Anyway I think the lowest trim of the odyssey is still more expensive than a fully loaded MAZGA5 GT. No?

But odysseys are great in transporting dry-walls from the home depot when you do basement renovations. And if you get the top trim, it will drive so stable (we did test drive) your passengers will feel like they're in a greyhound bus, and they can sleep soundly on long trips.

Ok, I'm just sour-graping because I could not afford the Odyssey. The wife almost gave approval for the lowest trim. Steel wheels. and so on.. with the condition that we check out the mazda mpv first. So we did and found the MAzda5.

Hey Flooded, welcome to the board! I really appreciate the interior photos. I'm been considering installing sound deadener, and your shots give me a good idea of what the floor looks like under all the dressing.

There are some more stripped down pics (from Monsta) in this thread:

http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123698901

Monsta had installed a sound deadener ("B-quiet ultimate") but unfortunately didn't take pictures after the installation of the sound deadener. 62Lincoln, if you do this, please be sure to take some pictures of the stripped down van and with the sound deadener installed.

And Flooded5, great job and thanks for the pictures! I love that color of green, but unfortunately it isn't offered with manual transmission in the '09's.

Great Work....

Can we get some close up of the console area with the panels removed..

Thanks

Sorry, but I didn't snap any of the console up close when I had it apart. If you have any questions I may be able to answer them. I had mine apart twice due to rear A/C blower not working properly. The blower motor would run, but no air would come from the rear vents. Finally, I discovered, there is an actuator at the bottom of the dash where the air inlet for the rear blower assembly is. It was stuck in the closed position. $30 for the actuator and back in business.
