I need a new People mover, and I think the Mazda5 will suit my needs. I'll probably pick up a 2012 model sometime in the near future. I have been researching a lot about this vehicle using this site and other info. The only concern I have is the suspension issues that they had on the older models. So my question with 2012 other than a motor change and exterior design, did Mazda fix the ailing suspension issues ie poor tire wear, shocks, squeaks and rattles? Actually the squeaks and rattle don't bother me too much, I do own a Subaru. Also I am researching other brands, but I keep gravitating back to the 5. Thanks for you time guys and gals!

The rear shocks still experience occasional problems but because it's so new it'll be hard to tell.

I've been having some problems with the ride being "lumpy", which likely has to do with the tires. I took it back to dealership but the exact same thing happened on a brand new car, so no real fix yet.

It's a great car if you need a people mover on a budget but if you have the cash I'd strongly consider the Subie Outback instead. Yes it's $5K more starting but it's a lot more car.

Thanks for the response baller. I actually want to get out of my Subaru. Subaru of Canada isn't very helpful at all, and we only have one dealer here, so it is tough to get anything out of them. I know I will have some serious issues with my Subaru in the near future. I like the idea of the 5 for the versatility. Plus my kids are getting bigger and think the side doors are a plus. Thanks for you response.

Anytime. Keep in mind that the Mazda5 rides pretty low to the ground (it's the same as mazda 3) so if you're getting a ton of snow up where you live and it isn't cleared often getting something with more ground clearance might be a good idea.

Overall I really like mine cause it's cheap to run, low purchase price, decently fun to drive (as much fun as a minivan can have) and is just the right size. That being said, if budget allows and you don't need more than 5 seats, the Honda CRV might suit your needs better.

I like my 5, but I would really like a Subaru, especially after spending a week driving on gravel roads of potholes in the Laurentians. (Side note: I can't count how many Mazda5s I saw in Canada. Here, I see maybe two a month. There, I stopped counting after seeing ten in half an hour.)
