Need help quickly!!!!

Hello all!
I am stoked to have found this forum. My street hoop-d is about dead and I'm seriously considering hooking up with a Titanium Mazdaspeed as early as tomorrow or Tuesday. I am not a tuner - never have messed with it. I like the car a lot but I want more power. The Mazda sales guy told me that I could hook up a turbo tuner (or somesuch) that would increase the boost from 6ish that it is standard to in the 15psi range and that would push the car up near 240 HP.
First of all - is that true? It looks like such items are around $500. If it's true, what else is required? Will it void the warranty (meaning can I take it off before taking the car in with no evidence - the salesman says yes)?
Also, would that add any torque at all?
And will it damage the engine to run it all the time at 15psi boost or should I only use that for rare special circumstances (like when I come across any of you fine folks on the streets in Dallas ;) )?

Sorry for all the questions, but if I could spend a few more bucks and really get more juice out of the engine, I will be posting here as an owner REAL soon.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Please let me know what the scoop is ASAP - I'll continue to peruse the topics here, but I'm coming up to speed with the lingo so some of it's a bit obtuse to me.

Thanks!
Denny

well you can get a "boost controller" to up the boost but only to about 9lbs b/c the ECU has a built in fuel cut off at 10lbs. but with 9lbs the car will haul ass!!!!

go for the MSP you won't reget it.!

Can you give me an idea of HP improvmeent (above listed 170 at 6psi) at 9psi or 0-60 time improvement? I've never run a 1/4 before (I'm a road racer) so those numbers don't mean much to me.

Thanks!!!!
Denny

HP improvment with just a boost controller to 10psi may bring it to 200 engine hp and place you in the mid 14 second range.

But since you are not a drag racer then that increase of hp should go nicely with the MSPs already good suspension setup.
Road course racing doesn't not always need huge HP numbers instead it is matching the engine output with the suspension.

If you are looking for a car with huge HP gains then the MSP probably isn't the car. However if you want a car that has good road handling manners plus options and if you like the looks, then get it.

There are faster cars out there for the price but the MSP seems nicely balanced across the board.

just picked up "Modified Mag" today at the grocery store. Had article of protege with a few mods and the dyno stats:

134.3 WHP stock
150.2 WHP with K&N filter, underdrive crank pulley

quote from article:

"A front mount intercooler and larger quick-spooling turbo should be on the wish lists of many MazdaSpeed Protege enthusiasts. Imagine a Protege with 250hp to the wheels."
