My Injen CAI is on its way.

install is very easy, look at the injen instructions, then look at the protege5online.com instuctions in the tech section. i installed in just over an hour. this was at 7pm with almost no light, in the cold, and never installing an intake before.

So, I tried installed my intake yesterday.

This was the RM Racing intake (which is actually a True Flow intake rebranded).

Their directions are okay, if a little vague in parts. I don't think someone with very little knowledge of engines would be comfortable doing this install with the instructions provided - they make reference to most parts assuming you either know what it is, or would feel comfortable just guessing.

I just guessed on a couple of them. :)

One problem though - I think they gave me either the wrong air pipe or the wrong couplers. There are two couplers - one that connects the air pipe to the throttle body, and one that connects the other end of the air pipe to the MAF thingy.

These couplers DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT fit on the air pipe. I measured the air pipe and it is 2 3/4". The outside of the coupler is also 2 3/4", but the coupler is at least 1/4" thick, meaning you are trying to squeeze the air pipe into an opening that is 2 1/2" or less. The silicone coupler just does not stretch that far - or I should say I do not possess the unhuman strength that would be required for such a feat.

Any second opinions? Did they give me the wrong size coupler or am I just missing something?
