Hey guys, the guy who started the other thread was a little difficult to understand gramatically, but i dont think he was talking about the "high speed handling test" with the MP3 you guys are referring to. He is talking about the stats for cars tested in the last 2 to 3 yrs that is in the back of Motortrend magazine. In the latest issue, the August issue, they have the MSP's stats as follows:
0-60 : 6.8
1/4 mile : 15.1 / 92.5
Braking 60-0 : 115 ft.
Slalom : 69.3 MPH
****These are the numbers the MSP posted in the comparo test where it came in 2nd overall against the Nissan SPEC V, Ford Focus SVT, and Dodge SRT-4.(Guess which car came in first, but BARELY)****
That is the 15.1 for the 1/4 milehe was referring to. and the 69.3 in the slalom according to the chart (whish is 4 pages long) is beat only by: BMW Z4 ($44,820 - 70.3 MPH), Corvette Gldstrnd (not sure what that means, but $99,785 - 69.7 MPH), Corvette Z06 (51,450 - 70.4 MPH), Viper ACR ($86,835 - 70.8 MPH), Viper SRT-10 ($83,795 - 70.4), SVT CObra R ($54,995 - 69.4 MPH), Lancer Evo VII ($35,000 - 70.9 MPH), Lancer Evo VIII ($30,062 - 71.4 MPH), Mosler MT900 Photon ($210,000 - 74.7 MPH), and THATS IT. SOme mentionable cars that are on the chart and have a slower slalom speed include the Lambo Murcielago, 3 different Ferraris, Porsche 911 Turbo and GT3, BMW M3 and Z8,Shelby Cobras, WRX STI, Nissan 350Z, Mini Cooper S, th list goes on.... In short, for handling, nothing comes close to the value of the MSP. NOTHING!!
Also of interest: The 14.9 that the guy was reffering to is in the same chart but in the May issue (before the comparo with the SRT-4) the stats they got form that MSP are as follows
0-60 : 6.5
1/4 mile : 14.9 / 93.2 MPH
Braking 60-0 : 124 ft.
Slalom : 68.3 MPH
Lower handling numbers but better acceleration numbers. I wonder if this was a preproduction version of the MSP, or maybe just due to weather/elevation/surface conditions. but what really caught my attention is that these numbers are JUST behind the same numbers they get for the RX-8 (14.8 / 94.3, 111 ft. and 67.1 MPH) so, the MSP actaully outhandles the RX-8 and is just a tenth of a second behind in the quarter mile!!!   All this confirms one thing. Dollar for dollar, the MSP is one of the greatest cars on the planet. Now if we can just squeeze about a hundred more ponies out of our cars with out blowing it up......

hehe, dam right, squeeze dem ponies !!!

just got to say i love this car. first car i bought with my own stress and worries :)

hope it lasts forever.
