Motor Goes BOOM!!! Questions...

Now that I got your attention, SORRY! I know Joe was talking about motors blowing on Dyno runs from letting off the Gas real quick. Does this apply on the street or drag strip too? Stop light to stop light racing, when you have to go all out, then let off gas and slam on breaks? Not saying I do these things, but I do drive back country mountain roads and am ON and OFF the gas really hard most of the time. Just wandering if this kinda driving is puttin alot or wear and tear, on my motor, enough to go BOOM? Please give me some insight Fellas and Girlies...Later,

When you let off the gas the ECU will shut down the injectors. The A/F meter will read lean as hell, like 18 or 20 :1. Once you slam the pedal again it takes a second to react to the air charge being drawn thru the manifold. This will create a momentary lean spot. It is though completely normal and every car does this. I cant say you will blow your engine by doing this, just providing some fact to mull over. The thing is not to prolong detonation under load ( which means over atmospheric pressures ) **** it and drive hard i say!:D
J/K ill think you'll be ok if you just dont take things to an extreme all the time. Use premium fuel and get the injetors service once and a while. Check your plugs and keep the motor tuned up. Just my two cents:D

Don't sweat it. It was just a thought based on the info I had from matty at the time. I do not know of 1 msp motor that has let loose yet due to decel. It is common on the LS1's (modded) with their "crack forged" powder rods- they handle gobs of power but harsh downshifting or letting off too harshly and going from 600 hp to engine braking can and will toss a rod.
