Mazda6 i SV - AUX Question

I just purchased a 2009 Mazda6 i SV and I'm looking to install the AUX port in the armrest myself. Can any one tell me if the wiring is already in place and all I need to do is purchase the actual port that is in the armrest, or will I need the entire cable to plug into the HU?

If anyone knows the part number and where I should look for it I would appreciate that info as well.

Cheers,
Michael

Since it's there in the i Sport and they're probably making LESS of the SV, I'm going to guess that it's actually there and you only need the adapter.

Look at my install pictures to get the cup holder out, reach under and you'll be able to tell if it's there or not.

If it's not, then running it's going to be a PITA since you'll need the OE harness, if you're going aftermarket, skip it altogether and drill out a new hole and use a 1/8" stereo jack (they're like $6-$8). Stereo 1/4" are much more common (guitar jacks) but you can still find the 3.5mm.

Good luck.

Thanks E! I might just wait and get the iPod cable for this HU, which I believe plus directly into the HU.

GOOD NEWS Everybody! ;)

It's $14 for the harness if you want the AUX and it daughters to another harness just under the cup holder, which is ideal for someone wanting to add/replace the OEM for an aftermarket (or hacked) connection.

Ernie,

Any idea on the part number or where to get the harness? I just (literally like 2 hours ago) bought a Mazda6 i SV and would like to get the AUX port.

Thanks,
Eddie

Oddly enough, one arrived today from Mazda - have to pick it up tomorrow.

Yes, I have the part number, but not here - I'll post it this weekend.

Incidentally, this will let you splice in the OEM Aux-in with an aftermarket setup, I'm not sure which pins are the correct ones on the lower-end stereo. If you're stuck, I can try to look that up, but I have a long to-do list for the next few days.

The lower end stereos have aux in on the back, I'm pretty sure, whereas bose has the aux-in on the blutooth unit . . . odd.

Car part# GS3R-6705Y-B11
box part# GS3R-67-05YB
invoice# GS3R-67-05YC

paid $15.89

Not sure why there is a difference in the numbers.

Thanks for the info. Can you post pics? I'm a little mixed up on what you are talking about with these parts.

This is the cable that plugs directly in to the back of the factory AUX port.

I just used this to get the pigtail so I could splice a regular RCA to that port (and thus, any stereo).

I don't know if I have pics; I did it quite some time ago.
