Mazda5 OEM USB Charging

:
2008 Mazda5 GT
Anyone know what year came with standard USB power port?? I had a newer (didn't think to look at the year) rental and was surprise to find it now has a USB charging port on top of the Aux-in. I'm thinking of sourcing the OE plug and add it to my '08.

Q:
-how many amps does it output?
-anyone try using a splitter to charge multiple devices at once?
-Do you get ground loop buzz when charging AND using Auxin at the same time?

Thanks.

2013 iirc. It needs head unit support I think, its for music file playback and won't have enough power to charge multiple devices. My USB port doesn't work anymore since I swapped head units. If you want USB charging, just get an adapter from Edotech supply.

Oh darn. So it does not have an independent power step down converter in the line and gets the 5v output from the HU. I have a standalone 12v DC to 5v DC USB converter. I was hoping to have a better integrate solution and you can never have too many USB charging ports. It's the only standard that is consistent internationally :) Oh well. maybe I can still use the front end and splice in wires but that seems like a waste of money/time.

I know this is directed towards the newer owners, but I thought I would add that I bought a Pyle ground loop isolator and that fixed my issue. Sits right below the aux in and charger

I replaced the 12v port on my 2012 with one of these:

https://www.amazon.com (commissions earned)

It fit perfectly in the same hold, just lose the little flip down cover. I had to just get a tap to hook up the power off the regular 12v plug.
hey, I just placed an order for the same adapter :). Good to know it fits but I wouldn't give up the 12v plug. I plan to dill it into the glove box or next to the center bin.

Does this thing charge your smart devices, say like an iphone 5? I saw a reviewer post they had to jump center two pins to allow this (feature of the phone, not the device).
