Mazda 5 2008 or 2009 - in the SNOW???

I am considering the Mazda 5 - just love it. (cabpatch)

BUT I hear it does not handle well in snow. I would love to hear a real owner's take on this (please indicate where you live so I know what kind of snow you get).

So, how do you deal with it? Do you just pray when it snows? Do you get different tires & if so, what? Are you unhappy with your choice because of it? Would you still get the Mazda?

Thanks!!

Snow tires are the answer.

The stock OEM Toyos are reputed to be bad in snow.

I got a separate set of smaller 16" wheels and snow tires.

Works great. Set me back $700.

The same here. Got mine from the dealer.

Snow tires on black (un-walmart-wheel-covered) steelies is now an accepted 'look' for vehicles during winter. At least here in the prairie

I'm on my 3rd winter of the 'Hankook Ipike'. I'm hoping to wear them out
so I can try the 'higher class' winter tires. But no luck for me. The rubber is still way far from the 'worn marker'. looks like they will last few more winters.

I have forgotten how it feels to drive with an all-season tires during winter.
I've been using winter tires since 5 years ago.

I ran with the stockers and we had record snows this year in Michigan. I had ZERO issues. I thought it did VERY well in the snow considering no traction control.

1st winter with our new '09, and no troubles in the snow with our 5. We did run 4 winter tires, but we had done that on all of our cars in the past. No shortage of snow in Eastern Ontario!
