Klez Virus ---------help!

Alright, the past several days I've received tons of undeliverable emai. Email that I didn't send. Each piece has attachments. Of course, I don't open them. The subject of each piece mentions the klez virus. I've scanned my computer.....it's clean. Using search engines, I've looked for solutions. I've found nothing. Short of getting a new email address, what can I do? All suggestions are appreciated.

if you are using outlook/ outlook express or any big webmail place you can set it to not download mail from the server with certain lines in the text.

However, sounds like you should run some more diagnositcs/ virus checkers. Usually using only one may not catch it. And you may have it still dispite being clean.

no prob,

i had to get rid of it on my comp, my roommate's comp, and someone on my floor's comp back when it was in very high circulation at the UCLA dorms, so i've had some experience
:)

OK, so now fix mine! I have the same problem, only I've run 3 different virus scans, all updated to the newest virus definitions, and a virus fixer thingie for the Klez family. They all say I don't have it. I know which email spread it around my college campus network, as I got a warning from ITS ahead of time, and I didn't even open it, let alone DL the attachment, and it wasn't even on my computer. Yet I have the problem!! Help please wise computerman!

Sounds like you did what you should, if im reading correctly that you scanned for ALL virii and not just klez. If you have just been scanning for klez then you might try scanning for nimda or code red and others.

You could try.... reinstall windows, Not reformat, but just reinstall.
Then try running the virus checkers again. It might help, might not.

If that fails...... reformat time.

And when you are done, make sure to install all the service packs from microsoft, turn off file sharing, put on a firewall, and in outlook/ outlook express / mail program to turn off the "preview pane" because many a virus can execute themselves from that without you opening the attachment.
