Intercooler Sprayer, Is It Possible???

Well putting cool water/fluid on the outside of a metal device while the inside is hot may not be a good idea...metal stress.....better to figure out how to cool the intercooler from the inside

i got this off a srt4 forum you can re route or buy a windsheild washer hose and get a mister from the local hardware store for 6 bucks it will "fog" the intercooler so it cools evenly but don't use it at a track or be banned for fouling the track

This was my concern on the whole spraying the intercooler, but they do it on the EVO and the STI and there are kits you can buy that are universal for intercoolers, not to mention the NX kit that sprays nitrous into the intercooler which is a hell of a lot colder than water.

The fluid is not that cool and the IC is not that hot. This is ridiculous. What happens when you driv in the rain :)??

Also, an IC sprayer is simple and inexpensive. It will help cool the IC down a bit. I was thinking of making one for my car with both a pressure switch so it will come on under high boost and a momentary switch so I can spray when I want also- like in the staging lanes getting ready to pull to the lights for us drag guys :)...

Now if you guys want real results- water injection will cool the intake charge drastically and raise the detonation threshold almost as high as using race fuel.. I have seen people get away with 5-7 psi more boost on other turbo cars without detonating than they could without the WI. Now that doesn't mean that the MSP will handle 15-17 psi, but it will not detonate :).

Huh? Explain more, you can't mean shooting water into the intake?

I have a sprayer setup on my RX-7, I'm using CO2 though, not water. Water will cool, but using CO2 will drop the temperature by at least another 30 degrees F over what a water sprayer will do, and they cost about the same for each setup. I would have gone with a nitrous setup, but the cost of refilling the tank is outrageous compared to CO2.

NOS Fogging

There is a shop around myhouse..(club conceptz) that has an 11 second eclipse. THis think is sick. ANyways.....they have a fogger that uses NOS on the front mount intercooler. It is steel pipe about 1/4" diameter with a bunch of little holes on it in a rectangle shape that fits on the front of the intercooler. It has a connection on it to hook up a NOS bottle. They fog ICE cold NOS onto the intercooler. Id think that would do better than water. I can get more info if anyone wants. Im going out there sometime this week to get some graphics redone. PM me if you wnat to know more.
