I've just picked up the Sirius satellite kit for my wife's 2010 Mazda 5 and will be attempting to install it on Thursday morning. It looks very involved, but I'll just take it slow. Any advice? Anything I should know before I tear into it?
Well, I got it installed today. It took about 5 hours but went without a hitch - I think it would have gone faster if I hadn't run 20 miles this morning! Best advice to a would be installer is to take your time and be careful I managed not to break anything.
then google searched the PN to find better prices. (eBay was the best price I found, over $100 less than the site listed above for the tuner and installation kit combined).
Note:
Don't try to install the Mazda Sirius Satellite tuner retrofit kit in a 2013 Sport model, the 2013 doesn't have the right wire harness in the dash.
I have a 2013 and bought the kit (advertised as "2012") half hoping/half assuming that the indicated application of 2012 was just how it was released, and not yet updated to include the 2013 applicability - I was wrong.
Apparently only 2012's had the necessary wire harness branch as a giveaway, and they eliminated it for 2013's (apparently). You can't install this in a 2013 Sport without swapping out the IP wire harness. FYI.
