I wanna' put some rims from an fd RX7 on my protege. (yo.)

I've got stock mazdaspeed protege springs and tokico dampers on my 2001 ES- is anyone else running fd rims with stock MSP springs/shocks? I believe i need to run 3mm spacers in the front and back to get the fd rims to clear the strut, but i wanted to know if the stock msp springs aren't stiff enough to prevent the wheels from rubbing the body. I had the typical rust around where the rear bumper cover mounts to part of the wheel well and it rusted off... so now it's bondo, and if the wheels rub my precious bondo it'll probably just sort of bust off. (then, sadness).

I wanted to hear from anyone running the same, or similar set up (minus the bondo... + fd wheels) and how their set-up worked for them. Any rubbing? what tire size? 3mm spacers right?

I'm also looking to put the brake calipers and rotors off a 2006-2007 mazda6 on my protege in the near future- i'm not sure if i can still do the brake swap with fd rims, but as they are both 16inch rims i imagine they would still fit. (?)

thanks. (yo.)

Look up njamerka...I know he's running FDs on his sedan but can't remember his suspension set-up...wanna say Tokicos but don't remember which springs. 3mm sounds right for the spacers and I know P5 owners roll the rear fenders due to the 8" width but the sedans have a little more room back there so not sure if you'd need to. Something to keep in mind given the state of your quarter panels. 225/45 jumps to mind for the tire size and there isn't much to choose from and what is out there is gonna cost ya (gotta pay to play) http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSearchResults.jsp?width=225%2F&ratio=45&diameter=16 MZ6 brakes should fit.

i saw his car- not sure of his suspension set up, but i'm hoping he'll chime in here and tell me "oh yea it's tokico's and it works... 100% perfect, yep, absolutely no problems" and then i'll be all like, "cool".

I don't believe i'll need to roll the fenders.... but that could be i mostly *hope i don't have to, because if i do it's "stock es 16's until the turbo!!! woo!!" (and probably.... a long time after the turbo.... or maybe never a turbo and just stock wheels forever regardless) cause bondo doesn't roll -_-

That's an expensive tire! i knew tires would be expensive, but i feel like it's worth it. I really like the fd rims....
