How often do you boost?

No, thats the pressure to set Corky's FPR to at 0 vac, AKA onset of boost.

I mean what is the fuel pressure that the car should have at idle.

I believe its 36-40, just wanted to see if anyone with an MP3 had verified this.

That's pretty much correct, I think it starts at 34 though. I say we compromise and call it 35

Service manual states 39-45 psi at idle. 22 psi fuel hold pressure when car is off. And get this! Manual states our stock fuel pump will crank out 64-92 psi at max pressure. I would not trust that last number

Are you 100% on that pressure. Seams alot of people are seeing 34 PSI at idle. If your right then most of us are probably running lean at idle.

WOuld the MP3s timing be a reason for the lower idle fuel pressure?
I think only Port has said he also had 34 PSI at idle.
Hows everyone else?

Thats what the book states. I just checked mine for kicks. 45 psi at idle. But, I am also running the 2nd fuel pump. Hopefully Keith will chime in to solve the question

Its one thing tha mazda can't make close to identical FPRs. But to not make a consistent service amnual copy to copy, jesus this is terrible.

Bill is god (notice the little 'g' for all the christians ). He is right of course. I do not question anything the man says. And that is not sarcasm!

I'd be very surprised to find that there are discrepancies in the same printing of the owners manual. Most likely it's user-based I'll have a peek tomorrow and see if I can find misleading info.

Of course, Mazda did put the wrong torque for the crank bolt in the original printing of the 1990 Miata manual, so mistakes do happen.

1st MP3, the MP3 isn't THAT different. There's no need for the timing to be changed at idle. And the fuel pressure would not be affected anyhow.

Is this corky's FPR?

Also seems like these are rather large ranges, 6 PSI for each. What is typicaly the best meathod to determine where the adjustment should be set at?

This is stock, as per the factory manual. There was discrepancy, I was explaining where it came from. If your stock Protege falls within this range there's nothing wrong with it. The ECU takes care of the fine tuning.
