hey people running gauges....

what are you using? i was going to get a greddy 60mm silverface...but it is kinda pricey....should i just got with 52mm autometers and a-pillar? the thing i like about the greddy is that the numbers themselves light up, so it matches the other gauges. are there any silver faced autometer that do that? ...or any other brand that isnt like 2093203920 dollars?

I would go w/ the greddy b/c I hear the autometers aren't accurate at all... (even though I did buy them before, I won't buy them again.. go w/ quality if you can afford it!)

I just bought an autometer 2 1/16 ultra light boost gauge yesterday. It ran me $45, it is a decent price. I got a single A pillar pod from autometer also, for $22. Good luck with your quest, gauges can be expensive.

I forgot to add on there glowing lic. plate frame also! J/K Yea, I really don't plan on doing those in the future. If I ever enter a show I might just have some orange accents in a few places but none of that other stuff. My future mods consist of more suspension and motor work. Thanks for catching that.

I have the Greddy 60mm, well worth the money. Please don't get an A-Pillar pod, they look like s*** (and look like rice) and block your view. Get the Greddy 60mm mounting kit and be creative. Here is the link to my pics:

Not sure what other gauges you would want? If anything goes boom on the car, a stupid gauge is not going to save anything.

I have been running Autometer gauges in my racecar for years, and in several of my street cars. I do believe that they are accurate, they have been making gauges for about 70 years or so. If you are worried about accuracy, buy Stack gauges, used in CART and F1 race cars. Greddy are nice, but I think you're paying a lot for a name.

How much have you all spent on your gauges/pods??? I was looking into getting my set as soon as possible(well after I get my car back of course). I need to make sure the size will be right first, but I want to go with the GReddy Warning Series. It's gonna run me over $700 though for the gauges, and the install will be totally custom(hopefully by me to save the money). Like Dexter said, I more want it for the fact that it matches, so if i can get cheaper ones, i'd do that for sure.

yeah , the greddy warning series are the coolest, but it doesnt seem worth it to pay that much just for matching colors. maybe if i was an interior decerator or something...but ..yeah....

Most important gauges (to me) are (in my order of preference):

1) tie: Oil pressure / oil temperature: With the turbo, you NEED to know when the oil is warm and "flowy" enough to get into the boost. Water temp won't tell you that, as the water warms faster than the oil.

2) Boost: Because it's cool, the needle moves a lot, and it helps to know to stay OUT of the boost until she's warmed up (see "1" above...)

3) Volts: Because it's good to know. Ordinarily this would be the first to tell you a "fan" belt is shot, but (especially with a powerful stereo) it's a good piece of info to have.

Now I have to re-read the posts above to find the ones that best match the interior colors - designer or not, I'm buying them once, probably taking a bunch of time (and/or money) to install them, looking at them often, and I want to be reminded of what they're telling me rather than "well, they're OK, I got 'em cheap"!

The most imp for me are in this order:
EGT (for lean/rich conditions)
Oil Pressure
Boost

Look, it does not matter if you buy a EOT gauge. It is very simple; don't get on the turbo until the five or so minutes have passed by after starting the car. There is no other reason to buy any other gauge then the boost gauge (there really is no reason to buy that one either). I think that the only reason to buy other gauges for this car is for the "poser" effect that is all so important these days. I bought my boost gauge because I wanted to see when I built boost, and how much. Boost is something that I have controle over, oil temp and pressure are not, so what does it matter?

The only way that any of the other gauges are going to be helpful is if you go to a Standalone ECU system and do some very serious tuning with the car. Then you have to ask yourself, "how much money do you want to throw into a twenty thousand dollar car?"
