Help for the "dead"

Hey folks, back again for some help. I did a search and couldn't find what I was looking for, so figured I would ask. I am also certain that this topic has been covered numerous times before, but my search for "dead pedals" brought up nothing good.
Ok, I recently bought some OBX Spec-R pedals, and have some questions before I tackle the dead pedal install. How exactly should I secure it? I have read about drilling through the existing one, using double sided tape, even velcro was mentioned on one site, but wanted your ideas on it.
If I do drill through the existing one, how exactly should I do it? Would it go all the way through the body, and then use a screw and nut to secure it, or should I only use 1/2" screws that are for metal tapping? Also, what should I use to cover up the hole so water doesn't get in? Is silicone ok, or do you recommend something else?
Second idea mentioned was taping, either double sided or velcro(whatever?!?!). If this is used, who has done it before, and how does it hold up to normal wear? Obviously not as secure as a bolt on method, but one to consider I presume.
Thanks for the help fellas!

hey

best to drill through the existing dead pedal, but not all the way through to the body. that will be plenty. it will be the best way to stop it moving around. i can just see double sided velcro coming loose under extreme "pressures"

Not sure how it is in the P5 but in my corrado all I did to sucure the dead pedal was to use self tapping metal screw and screw them through the existing dead pedal. The screws just came through the other side of the metal under the car (actually kinda in the tire well) so I just used some black silicone to cover it up and protect it. Never even hinted at coming loose.
