Good Reliability!!!

a. i find that hard to believe BECAUSE
B. like the poster said in that thread: "Its easy to be on the top if you are telling everyone that there claim is not covered under warranty for an aftermarket airfilter, exhaust etc. when it has nothing to do with the problem." and just let me add gas to the list.

One thing i have noticed with MAzda and so far my 5 service visits within 6 months and 5k miles: they 1 take an active approach in problems, service, and upgrades in their vehicles that i have never seen out of Honda & Acura, and 2. they are extremely fast in denying your problem as warranty work and/or something covered by Mazda. I have heard more excuses from the service manager as to what could be associated problems with my car than ive ever heard before, and im not just talking this recent event. My car was delivered with some problems.

Mikey, in all fairness you have some unusual problems. Maybe it's bad luck, a bad dealer, a little of your driving habits, a combination or something else, but I wouldn't call your experience representative of Mazda in general. You're also the guy that wanted to blame the snow bank and the garage for you hitting it... so you can't blame me if I'm a little skeptical of your perception.

That said, any issue I've had with my CX-7 has be quickly addessed by my Mazda dealer... they are outstanding it getting me in quickly, addressing my concerns, being willing to talk to me about it and having a genuine desire to actually FIX the problem. I would recommend them to anyone in a heart-beat.

Wasn't that somebody else?

well you might have bad luck because i have 21k miles and not minor and major problems at all, the dealer always treat me good, they listen to me when i told them if i have problems and they take good care of my baby !!!! MAZDA(first)

Yes Mikey, I was wrong... you weren't the snow-bank guy. You were the guy with the "car going dead" issue on your CX-7 and now the same issue on your loaner.

My mistake :)

Here's my 2 cents.

As a family that has owned 3 Hondas, 5 Mazda's, and numerous domestic vehicles I would like to think I'm fairly qualified in my opinion. Mazda vehicles in general are every bit as reliable as Honda/Toyota probably even better in some vehicles. Where Mazda falls behind is some of there service departments. Basically Honda/Toyota have more power over there dealerships to enforce how they operate and follow company policy. In the US in particular most Mazda dealers are quite small and usually matched with 2 or more other brands on the same property. Mazda doesn't at this point have as much clout to threaten their dealers into following guidelines. THis is starting to change in Canada where Mazda is bigger, but it will be awhile before the improvement is felt in the US.

This doesn't include all dealers, but a larger % of Mazda dealers will have bad service compared to Honda/Toyota at this point. I'm fortunate enough to have inside connections with Mazda Canada and have a great relationship with the local dealer.

But anyway the cars themselves are as good of quality as anyones. Consumer Reports voted Mazda the most consistently reliable brand in 2005 as well.

yea i totally agree with you on those thoughts. it has been my experience thus for in 6+ months of ownership.

i have never encourted anything remotely close to this with Honda, Nissan, Acura and Infiniti

wow. you basically stated what was stated to me by the service manager yesterday. almost word for word, kinda odd. he said he loves mazdas, hated the service job tho due to these issue, mazda's vendors with their parts, etc etc

For the record, I'm not a Mazda service manager!! :D

I just happen to know the inner workings of the car business very well (my dad was part owner of a dealership when I was a kid) and I have connections high up at Mazda Canada that I am able to get accurate info from.

This is for the UK, where Mazda and Honda offer a better standard warranty than Toyota. No surprise, then, that they have fewer extended warranty claims. Not that Mazdas are unreliable, just that this study is fairly sloppy.
