goo gone safe for paint?

i have some sweet pine tar on my car, and no bug/tar remover, but i do have some goo gone lying around. is it safe to try this on my paint? or what should i do to remove the tar?

I've used Goo Gone & it's fine. If it's something really bad, use Bug & Tar Remover.

i know they make tar remover, i don't have any and don't want to spend the money to remove a 2" thing of tar if i don't have to. it's not like goof off at all, it's made to remove the sticky stuff left behind by stickers and things like that. i think it's primarily an orange extract

Goo Gone is fine for paint. I used it to remove my dealer sticker about 2 months ago and the paint is still fine.
