Getting a 6i

Miata and Mazda 6
We just put a deposit on a 06 Mazda 6i.
We have had a Miata for several years and am very happy with the reliability and durability of it. Not overlooking that it is a lot of fun too.
Am I making a correct assumption that the 6 is a good choice too? I like the power and the ability to control the shift points. I have only dirven the car once and guess I'm just looking for a little support... Am I talking to the chior?

welcome to the forums!

personally i think the 6i automatic is a dog. i own an 07 mazda3 2.3 with the 5speed automatic and its pretty good for a car that size, but for a car like the 6 i think the 4 cylinder mated with an auto trans is underpowered. my sister owns a 6i with the manual transmission and i think its solid. not as muscular as the v6 but not lousy for a midsized car and fuel economy is good.

if i were buying a 6, it would have to be the v6 or the mazdaspeed but i think my opinion is slanted because of my profession :)

Actually, I misspoke. It is a sport model - 3 liter 6 speed auto (little dual exhaust pipes) 200+ hp.
It seemed to move pretty well during our test drive.
We could never live with a 4 cyl peddal car (except the miata).
As you can tell, I am going into this with very little research. I just have come to trust Mazda.
Am I wrong?

the 6 is an all around decent car and the v6 model is more than good enough for spirited pedestrian driving for the to-and-from kind of business

I have a 2004 Sport Wagon and my wife has a 2004 V6 5-door. Both cars have held up well and no complaints to date, both are MTX's and we enjoy both cars very much.

Each has been modded, intake, exhaust, Mazdaspeed Sport Shifter, Springs and Sways, the only difference is I have headers and she doesn't. I am sure you will enjoy the car.
