First move to the Dark Side.....

well, i wasn't quite ready to take the leap over to a turbo setup yet but then i spotted this engine in a local auction and i had to find the money.......

thank goodness noone bid against me and i got it for a good price - $2000nzd(~$950-980us)

it needs a bigger turbo cos it was running a big t3 before but i am getting the adapter plate as well and i have a friend who has such a turbo just for me ;)

unfortunately the money is dried up for now and theres still so much to do but we all know the tortoise does get to the finish line in the end - and he won't have any fuel issues, maybe transmission issues tho' ;)

here is what i bought.....

Mazda GTX 1800 DOHC Turbo Motor, rally motor stroked to 1799cc to be eligible to run without restrictor in NZ rallys.
* Flowed Head
* Exhaust Manifold ceramic coated
* Uprated valve springs
* RX7 Turbo injectors
* Falcon throttle body
* Kelford Group A spec billet cams
* Forged pistons
* Lightened flywheel
* MX5 Ignition system
* Fully balanced
* 2000km on rebuild
* Complete from water pump to flywheel

This is a very strong motor in top condition. Ready to go rally/race motor or would make a very fast road car....

and what with our lack of emissions laws here, i can have a 3" exhaust all the way from the turbo :D

stef is one happy wee camper right now! wish me luck!

thanks for the support guys. its a pretty exciting time for me - i've been around the scene for just over a year now and i've seen all these other lucky bastards getting boosted.

it was always my intention to do this but sometimes you get sidetracked. now i gots to save me pennies for a computer and some other bits an' pieces. i think it may almost kill me to have to look at this engine just sitting in front of me every day, knowing what its probably capable of but that it won't turn many heads sitting on a pallet. :'(
