Does your auto-climate TEMP control buzz when you turn it up/down?

For the first time I notice (hear) the auto-climate control make an electrical buzz when I turn the temp dial up or down a degree. Is this normal? I usually have the radio on or dont adjust temp often so never paid mind to it. Can someone confirm if this is normal?

Mine makes the buzzing noise..when I change from feet to hand...(airflow). Just went out to the parking lot to check what you say..and mine is not doign it.

Thanks for checking! I was hoping the buzz is normal and that I just never noticed…

The buzz you are describing is likely the piezo motor moving the vent flaps to change/redirect air flow. I hear this too and in other auto climate cars but probably b/c it requires more movement/power. I would speculate there’s a separate piezo motor moving the temp flap when adjusting the dial but I never “hear” the noise before and was very surprised to hear it so audibly the first time.

I don’t drive the car much anymore and the wife tells me she hears it sporadically. I just checked again (cold start) and it is not making noise... I have a speculation if the noise might only become audible after the AC has been on for a while. The cold air freezes the little motor making it work harder and therefore making noise (pure speculation)? Guess I’ll apply the “if it ain’t broke don’t fit it” rule :p… I hope it is not a sign of it going out but this furthers my dislike for Mazda quality.
