Getting to be that time again.

Noticing cheapest I can find OEM Mazda FZ fluid is around $14-$15 per quart.

Ravenol is more, so doesn't make sense to me.

Also noticed it seems like Aisin makes an FZ fluid for Mazda, and this seemed reasonable at $9.74 per quart at Rock Auto.

Anyone tried the Aisin stuff? Any reason not the go that route. Based my last drain and fill draining 5 quarts, my plan was to get at least 6 quarts of fluid.

I still had a few extra FZ quarts from last change so recently just picked up a few FZ quarts when I drop the pan and swap filter as well.

I have substituted for some Idemitsu AT fluid on my Infiniti with confirmed compatibility...I've stuck with strictly OEM on my Mazda and Lexus since I've only observed compatibility speculation over the years.

Aisin worked just fine in my 13. I did three drain and fills for it when it hit 100k miles on the odometer. Drove fantastic for the next 20-30k miles before it was totaled.

I had a couple quarts of the Aisin left over from when I did that service a few years ago. For my first 30k mile single drain and fill with a pan drop/filter change on the ‘23 T, I ordered 4 quarts of Mazda OEM fluid from Mazdaswag for about $11 a quart. Made sense as I needed other OEM stuff (air filters, transmission filter, SG1 gear oil, etc). It’s a little over $12 a quart now at Mazdaswag. I used all four quarts of the OEM fluid and used the two quarts of Aisin I had left over to get it to the optimal level. Shifts like the day it was new, maybe a little better as it was slightly low from the factory.

$12.30 isn't bad. I may just pick that up then as that isn't significantly more than the Aisin.

I have two bottles of SG1 gear oil. Wasn't entirely sure how much I'd need to do both the rear differential and transfer case. Now just need to find the time to do that. I got 2 more jack stands a couple months ago so now I can put up the whole car so it's level.
