Hey guys, Karl here from South NJ. Been a while since I posted---well after getting in a car accident in October, my car has been totally fixed up in November. 500 dollar deductable, and 6000 of damage covered paid---well the bad news I just got in the mail---Prudential decided to drop my whole family off the plan cuz of my 7 points and accident.

well the good news is, I just finished fabricating a custom subframe support, for the Protege 5. It's made out of 1 3/4" square piping which is welded like a giant X, and it is bolted underneath the car--thus stiffening the whole chassis and suspension. It can be bolted on and off.

The car rides like it's on rails. I'll take pictures for everybody to see. The mounts are custom made out of stock piping and flat stock. It took me 3 weeks to design and make from scratch. Maybe within time, I"ll make another one out of titanium or, improve the mounts made.

After I get some experience auto-x'ing, I plan to start stiffening up the chassis a little.

No, this frame support I developed spans all the way from the front axle to the rear control arms. That way, there is absloutley no give whatsoever to the chassis. The frame itself is about 30-50lbs, but the increased stiffness is such an advantage over the extra weight. Plus, if you hit a pothole, it also seconds itself as a shield for the whole underbody.

Okay my computer blows---can't upload pics or anything on this thing. Piece of s***. Anyway, I believe its a mild steel, and it's been painted a bright RED. Very strong, and my car as NO bodyroll whatsoever. Works well with the AWR swaybar and for Auto-X'en.

Anybody who's going to the April 17th meet, I'll have it mounted on the car to show everybody. I basically modeled it from Corvettes Subframe support.

Hopefully I could go to my friends house and upload some pics for everybody to see soon...sorry for the wait guys. If not, just wait until you see it in person!

okay, so these were taken yesterday at the Meadowland's (did I get that right?) racetrack all the way up North Jersey--I was at the Mercedes Benz C-Spot Drive Party. Gotta love beating the s*** out of expensive cars for free, and getting fed ritzy food. Sorry bout the dirty car, didn't get to do a full detail yet! More pics to come, I'll be getting rims soon...

Oh by the way, you guys dig the ride? Look for the DING under the 5 in the Protege 5 logo in the "ass" shot. Damn bouncer pushing my buddy into my car at the strip joint!!!

Once I get a full day to take some nice pics with my bud's camera, I'll take some underbody shots of the Subframe X.
