components in the front doors?

So my old Hyundai Elantra had passable factory speakers, and my new Fiat 500 has a great factory sound system. My wife envied my Fiat for its satellite radio so I just installed that but now that I'm directly comparing the two cars with same-quality sound input, it bothers me the shallow sound stage the Mazda produces. So for the first tome since my old Kia I'm thinking I want aftermarket speakers.

My question is this: given that her 5 has tweeters up in the window space of the front doors, would it be reasonable to get some good front components with separate tweeters, woofers, and crossovers, then install the woofers in the factory door location, the tweeters in the window space and the crossovers somewhere in the door? Had anybody done this? I figure in the rear I'd just use some good full range two way 5.25 round or 6x9 oval speakers, but in the front some components could really deepen the soundstage.

Go with a component set, the factory tweeters are not that great. I have a 2006 and not sure if the 2010 is the same but the front and rear speakers are 6x8. I have the component set up front and some 2 ways in back. I went with Infinity and I am very happy with the sound quality.

This is the only place I could find for the crossover to fit without getting in the way of the door panel

I popped the stock tweeter out and glued the new tweeter in its place.
