hehe, I just checked my account, totally forgot about a certificate of deposit- I see I have a CD with 6.79% interest that matures in 2004!! :D:D:D too bad theres like squat in it :(

My savings account is only. 5% :(

Whats everyone elses rates?

Damn, where the hell did you get such a good rate from? Here in Maryland, most CDs don't have rates much over 2%. I have one right now that is like 1.29 or something like that.

I locked that rate in just before the stock market started its tumble, in 2000. Booked it for 48months :)

now- the bank is supposed to have penalties for early withdraw- I wonder if they would me close it without penalty, seeing as how they are losing tons of $$$

Try ING Direct for savings. They have 2.3% Money Markert accounts with no minimum balance.
If you're interested, let me know. I can shoot you a link and I might be able to get a couple bucks as a referrer.
Netbank also has about 2.3% yield on their MMAs also.

They might close you without penalty if you have been a customer for a while. I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask....the worst they tell you is no....hehe

anyone know off hand- this is a bankone CD. can i put MORE money into it? or is it locked? (my feeling is its locked)

Does it say if it is a No-Penalty Add-on CD? Usually if it doesn't say it, the penalize you for adding to it, or taking money from it.

On the website that shows it, it doesn't really have any information. I'll have to check about getting one and see the "rules"

Call them and ask them. Make sure u get the name of the person you talked to just in case they'll screw up, you'll have someone to blame... I have a money market account with almost 3% interest. I got over $600 in interest alone!!!
