hey guys i just bought a 2003 msp with 82k on it, and i have had it for about 4 days. well today when i was driving home the car stalled in the middle of the road and left me stranded. then about 5 min later it started and ran fine, and the stalled out again when i was pulling into my driveway . i checked and found the egr pipe had been cut, would that have anything to do with it?

I am having a similar , but in my case, it cuts off when I decelerate in stop and go traffic or come to a complete stop, unless I pop it into neutral while doing so. I have replaced the egr valve (twice the first one was faulty), replaced both cam sensors, both coil packs, reset the computer... and still the same problem. The last mechanic I had it with did all the repairs above and had my car for over a month and he said I'll have to try someone else because he's stumped.
I've put over $1,000 dollars into this car in the last 3 years (not including regular maintenance stuff). I'm a college student living on my own and work as a shift manager at a restaurant. I can't really afford to keep sinking money into this car, but I don't have the funds to get another one either. Like most of America, I'm living paycheck to paycheck. I really don't want to have to junk my car.
If yours is shutting off under the same circumstances, we know we have the same problem. Does anyone have a clue what it could be?! I am grateful for any help!

It isn't the ideal way of doing it in my opinion but if you want to know the problem you can take it to any Mazda dealer and they will hook it up to the M-MDS which can datalog and test all the sensors and tell you exactly what is going on when it stalls.
Typically stalling indicates a leak, improper MAF location with a VTA BOV, or bad/dirty MAF sensor.

My msp used to stall out when the wastegate was bad have you replaced it?

I heard forge wastegates tend to fail
you should check your waste gate. Its easy to do and will cause that kind of problem. find the hose that goes into the waste gate actuator and blow on it on pressurize it somehow. if you can blow into it and there is not strong resistance then it is busted. if you can pressurize it make sure you see the actuator arm moving when you pressurize it. this means that it is working. If it is busted then it is causing a vacuum leak which can cause stalling. This stalling generally occurs when you are pulling up to stop. if it is stalling when you are driving it and you are having a hard time keeping it running without giving it gas then it probably a boost leak of some kind. check all of your intercooler pipes for leaks. the most common spot will be on the nipple where the bypass valve is. this will be on the black plastic pipes that run from your intercooler to your throttle body and intake manifold and will go from that pipe to a little roundish tan looking thing with a vacuum line coming off of it and then into your intake piping. the nipple on the intercooler side is a common failure point. if it is leaking you can fix it jb weld or something like that for awhile. (the jb weld isn't a permanent solution but if you let it cure for a day or so then it can last years.)
