In the final stages of getting my built motor completed and noticed that my awr oil pan is leaking oil at two areas around the bolts. I used the correct amount of gasket seal and torque spec on the bolts.

Really what I would like to know is the people that have the oil pan have seen the same problem as me.

Eli

Again I followed the specs from the manual.

Are the bolts right next to eachother. Maybe not enough sealant/didn't set right around that area. I would take it off and see whats going on, then reinstall.

Yeah, I plan to. I just wanted to get a head count of others with this pan and see if they are experiencing the same problem. On a good note I can now run 5.2 quarts of oil :)

Nice!

my awr oil pan has a small leak too. mine was due to rushing the install. after you apply the gasket seal, let it cure an hour or 2 before torquing down the pan.

i haven't yet, it only leaks if i either over fill a little or parked a little bit down hill. i'm gonna have my car dismantled by early spring for my built up so i'll take care of that then.

I've never liked that way, I personally always put it completely around each bolt hole, it makes a much more reliable seal.

^ditto.i do alot ot oil pan gaskets and tranny pan gaskets at work and always do a full circle around the bolt holes. ive learned the hard way doing it by the "manual". if that was the right way, they way do i have to do so many new gaskets with less then 40k on then;) hope you get this sorted out btw

Have you removed and redone the seal? And if so, did it fix it?

I had the same issue with my stock oil pan. When you take it off, make sure that the pan lip is flat before doing it. Make sure that all the old sealant is off, and clean with a degreaser before adding more.

Cool. I'm going to rtv around the bolts too.

Can I get a vote what brand sealant everyone uses?

i use mopar RTV.

only leak i encountered was from the turbo return fitting as we did not initially put enough teflon wrap around the threads before we screwed it into the pan bung.

I am getting ready to install the AWR oil pan. I have some ultra black gasket maker sitting around from when i had my motorcycle valve cover off so i was thinking of using that, but I want to do it right. Montgomery mazda has some online for like 30 some bucks!!! Im looking forward to this instal cuz when im done my car will take over 7 quarts of oil. (deep sump oil pan plus larger full flow oil filter and a huge bypass oil filter)
