attn all red p5s (or anyone that's painted their headlights)

as you can see, i have a red p5 and i want to paint my headlights but i'm not sure what color to paint them, so i need some input.

i'm thinking either black or gunmetal. i did think about red but i just saw it done on cardomain and i'm not liking it too much...

what do you think?

and please, POST PICS, anyone that has painted their housings, no matter what color

i dont have pics but i painted my classic red p5's flat black. it looks great with dark tinted windows the grills and black rims or gunmetal rims

i helped my bro-in-law paint his headlights black on his red p5 and it looks awesome. i used a semi-gloss on both his and my headlights that way it gives it a little shine when the sun hits it. whatever you do, dont paint them too crazy or it will look like s***. ive sen a red w/red headlights and it look nasty. stick with black or maybe gunmetal.

Got mine painted Trim black. I love it, specially with the blacked out emblems. It will look good on red if you go with a dark colored rim. If you are going with Gunmetal rims, I would go with Gunmetal on the lights. I saw somewhere that someone painted it to look like carbon fiber. Looked real good esp. since he had a CF hood and grill.

quick question: what should I do about my clear sidemarkers? it'll look stupid if I leave them chrome, but I haven't noticed anyone (with a car other than black) who has painted them.

msp5: i have silver rims at the moment, but i'm getting them painted either gunmetal or black....not sure yet....

I painted mine red to match my red p5 and have received compliments. I guess it is just preference. Do what you want. I agree that black on red does look nice and may myself do this color later when I have all day to do it since I plan on getting black wheels. Good luck and get a good seal on those lights after opening them; mine fog up sometimes. Peace. Oh, and sorry I don't have a dig cam so can't give you any pics. Looks kinda like the cardomain guy's whip, but my paint is a near perfect match.

i don't remember the thread exactly, but someone did either photoshop white on white or they actually did it...the white looks great to me, but yeah, the red sucks...

on another note: i painted my headlights this weekend and they look so good! i'll post pics after i get them developed (no dig cam here)

I have seen it on a white car. Not in person but in pics. I think it would look eally good, just depends on the total look you are going for.

i contemplated the same thing, but decided to go with the black because i knew that once i painted them i wouldnt want to repaint them if i didnt like it.
