Looks like this thing is just a variable resistor to control intake temp info sent to the ECU. Just like the cheap 'chips' and instructions you can get from ebay.

I thought that the Mazda ECU had an override for high RPM that ignores the signal from the intake temp sensor and uses it's own preset map.
