2008 M5 A/C unit bulb replacement

Hi there,

does anybody know how to replace a bulb under the A/C on/off knob? Is the dash kit removal required to do this? Any help is appreciated,

That bulb may be covered under warranty. Check with the stealer/your paperwork before you tear apart the dash.

I just the other day noticed that mine was not lit, but the other knobs were. I tapped with my knuckles around the knob, and it came on. (cabpatch)

If you did need to replace the bulb, basically you would follow the instructions to installing a stereo, but instead of removing the stereo head unit, you would be removing the HVAC controls.

I agree with 5zoom, if it is covered under warranty, let the dealer worry about it.

thanks, I spoke with my dealer and he said that these bulbs are covered only for 1 year. My car is 2 years old. He said if the entire control unit was broken they would replace it at no cost.

That means the warranty is not bumper-to-bumper, as stated. That sucks.
