Hi everyone, my 06 auto 5 is failing emission testing for a pending code. No code is being displayed but the evap icon is flashing. Now a flashing means diagnostic not run but it has been like this for the last 200 kms. According to my Innova 3030e manual it can stay up to 80 cycles. Seems like a long time to rid a test IMO.

Anybody come across this before. The purge valve was replaced last yr and I just replaced the maf due to code P0113.

Any thoughts? I guess evap system could be acting up but no code?

Thanks in advance...

I found this online for a Toyota "I searched online and found the following drive cycle that is apparently applicable to the 2001 5SFE Solara - presumably the Camry as well.

Evaporative Monitor:

Pre-requisite: No codes present, fuel level between 50 and 75%, IAT and ECT between 40 and 95 degrees F, altitude below 7801 ft, 8-hour cold soak

- Release pressure in fuel tank by removing and replacing gas cap before start up

- Idle engine until ECT is 167 degrees F or more

- Raise engine speed to 3000 rpm for 10 sec.

- Idle engine with AC on for 15-50 minutes (if no AC, turn on rear defroster and headlamps)."

Also - check this link http://repairpal.com/how-to-perform-a-basic-drive-cycle

Are you filling up your tank all the time, or is it always below 50%?

I didn't know this about the emissions monitoring until I googled it - learned something new :-)

yes I have learned as well. My wife has been driving the car for the last few days and I check the car tonight and voila the monitor has passed. code reader is giving me a clean bill of health. just have to visit drive clean test facility and should be good to go.
